The [[Chevrolet]] Silverado [[Hybrid Cars|Hybrid]] was introduced in the 2005 model year as an optional engine configuration on this hugely popular truck. The [[Hybrid Cars|Hybrid]] configuration is expected to produce an increased fuel economy of 10% by simply stopping the Vortec 4800 [[V8|V8 engine]] in idle and deceleration but without impeding power performance.

The 2007 model Silverado has had many small changes both inside and out. [[Chevrolet|Chevy]] has strayed from its trend of sharing similar from ends across vehicle lines like the Tahoe to produce a new and very pleasing looking vehicle. The 2007 Silverado seems as to have gained some size and girth but has borrowed elements from its little brother the Colorado which may make this seem skewed at first glance. Other options that seem to have been normally limited to the mid-size market vehicle have found their way onto the 2007 Silverado such as roof rails, fog lights and nerf bars.

The 2006 Silverado [[Hybrid Cars|hybrid]] came to market with technology [[General Motors Corporation|General Motors]] called a Flywheel Alternator Starter [[Hybrid Cars|Hybrid]] System (FAS). Even though the system did not power the truck at lower speeds or offer up more power in overtaking such as future [[General Motors Corporation|GM]] [[Hybrid Cars|hybrids]] would, there is still merit to stopping the spewing of pollution at stop lights during idle.

For 2007 very little has changed on the Silverado [[Hybrid Cars|hybrid]], most likley new technology with a larger impact on fuel economy is in the works for future generations.
