Mitsubishi had already been producing a pickup for [[Dodge]] and [[Plymouth]] since 1979, called the [[Dodge Ram 50|Ram 50]] (D50) and [[Dodge Ram 50|Arrow]], and in 1983, after the departure of the Arrow pickup a year earlier, it got its own version.
