With its launch, the Milan debuted with [[Mercury]]'s signature Satin Waterfall grille design, which has become the company's trademark look for the rest of the [[Mercury]] model lineup. Production of the Milan started mid 2005.

Changes to the CD3 platform from the [[Mazda Mazda6|Mazda6]] include stretching it by 1.2 inches in width and 2.5 inches in length, strengthening it, and modifying the suspension for a more compliant ride. Like the [[Mazda]], the Milan uses the Mazda-designed 2.3L Duratec I4 and Ford-designed 3.0L Duratec V6. For 2007 Class exclusive [[AWD]] was added.

With its launch, the Milan debuted with [[Mercury]]'s signature Satin Waterfall grille design, which has become the company's trademark look for the rest of the [[Mercury]] model lineup. Production of the Milan started mid 2005.

Changes to the CD3 platform from the [[Mazda Mazda6|Mazda6]] include stretching it by 1.2 inches in width and 2.5 inches in length, strengthening it, and modifying the suspension for a more compliant ride. Like the [[Mazda]], the Milan uses the Mazda-designed 2.3L Duratec I4 and Ford-designed 3.0L Duratec V6. For 2007 Class exclusive [[AWD]] was added.

The Mercury Milan's main competetion is the [[Acura TSX]] [[Saab 9-3]] and [[Saturn Aura]]. The Milan shares some interior parts such as part of the console and seats with the otherwise unrelated European [[Ford Mondeo]].
