The Chrysler 300 is a near-luxury sedan designed by Ralph Gilles. There have been many vehicles using the name, starting in 1955 and continuing to this day. This page is about the modern Chrysler 300, not the Chrysler 300 letter series cars of the 1950s and 1960s.

See Wikicars' comprehensive Chrysler 300 Review.

Recent Changes
*Cosmetically, the 300 remains unchanged from the 2006 model year, save for an optional longer wheelbase available on select trims. Feature-wise, SmartBeam headlights are offered on the Heritage Edition of the 300C for the first time, and other new features include things such as heated rear seats and adaptive cruise control.
*For 2008, The 300 receives a minor refresh in the form of minor revisions to the front and rear fascias and tailamps, a new rear deck lid incorporating an SRT-style spoiler, a new entertainment and communications options, a new instrument panel and center console design, soft-touch surfaces on arm rests and door panels, and a newly designed and relocated cruise control stalk.
Styles and Major Options
The new 300 is offered in five versions: the basic entry level 300, the "Touring" version, a more luxurious "Limited" model, the top-of the line 300C, and the performance-oriented SRT-8.

The basic 300 comes standard with 17 in (432 mm) alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, traction control, and a four-speed automatic transmission. It uses a 2.7 L LH V6 making 190 hp (142 kW).

The Touring model uses a 3.5 L V6, producing 250 hp (186 kW) and 250 ft.lbf (339 N·m) of torque. It also uses a 4-speed automatic transmission, but comes with foglamps, yaw control, and other luxury appointments.

The top of the line 300C version uses a 5.7 L Hemi V8. This engine can run on four cylinders when less power is needed, reducing fuel consumption. The EPA has rated the 300C as getting 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway. When all 8 cylinders are needed, the 300C can make 340 hp (254 kW) and 390 ft·lbf (529 N·m) torque. The Heritage Edition of the 300C features the 5.7 L engine along with many of the SRT-8's exterior modification, added chrome accents, and special tires on 18 inch wheels. It is the first Chrysler vehicle with SmartBeam headlights.

The SRT-8 includes a new 6.1 L Hemi which produces 425 hp (317 kW).

Reliability
Because the new 300 model only debuted in 2005, accurate long-term reliability information is not yet available.

Safety
The 2007 Chrysler 300 received high marks from the NHTSA in safety tests performed by the agency. For all front-impact and for rear seat side-impact tests, the 300 earned 5-Star ratings, and in tests for front seat side-impact and rollover, it received 4-Star ratings.

Some of the standard safety equipment found on the 300 includes:
*Traction control
*Four wheel anti-lock brakes
*Electronic stability control
*Front and rear anti-roll bars
*Driver/passenger front-impact airbags
*Side impact bars
Hybrid Models
There are no hybrid models of the 300 in production at this time.

Unique Attributes
Resale Values
According to Kelley Blue Book, "the 300 is projected to hold a better than-average-residual value, with the Touring actually bettering the V8 300C over a five-year period by a few percentage points."

Criticisms
*"If you're looking for something inconspicuous, say, for a stakeout, the Chrysler 300 might not be your best option. Car enthusiasts will lament the absence of a manual transmission and some may find the interior color choices drab." - Kelley Blue Book
*"Saddled with a small V6, the base model feels sluggish, and we wouldn't recommend it to most buyers." - Edmunds.com

Current Generation: (2005–Present)
The current 300 is a sport sedan and wagon which was first shown at the 2003 New York Auto Show as a concept car and first introduced in the spring of 2004 as an early 2005 model. The current 300 was designed by Ralph Gilles, and replaced both the 300M and Concorde.

The new 300 was built to bring a high performance, sporty sedan to compete with the likes of the Buick LaCrosse and the Mercury Montego (launched at the same time as the 300). Unlike the LaCrosse and Montego, the 300C is rear wheel drive and offers comparable luxury at a lower price. The 300 is also sold in Europe as both a sedan and a station wagon. The station wagon, sold in Europe as the 300 Touring (not to be confused with the North American sedan's "Touring" trim level), shares its body pieces of the C-pillar with the Dodge Magnum. The 300 Touring differs from the Magnum in that its exterior stying and interior fitment are that of the 300/300C instead of the less-luxurious Magnum.

The car has become a genuine hit for Chrysler. It is priced below similar rear wheel drive, high-performance V8 sedans from other marques. Media reports have indicated sales approaching 10,000 per month and shortages developing.

The new 300C, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Magnum all share the Chrysler LX platform, which features components derived from the discontinued Mercedes-Benz E-Class of 1996 to 2002. Such components include the suspension design, front seat frames, wiring harnesses, steering column, the 5-speed automatic's design, and a derivative of the 4-Matic all wheel drive system.

Extended Wheelbase
The Extended Wheelbase version of the 300 was shown for the first time at the 2006 New York Auto Show. It has 6 inches of extra length, which has been added to the rear passenger compartment. The extended wheelbase model will be built by Accubilt, an outside specialty vehicle manufacturer. Although built by this outside company, it will be fully backed by Chrysler and sold through Chrysler dealerships.

Coupe and convertible?
Chrysler is reportedly considering creating coupe and convertible versions of the 300. The convertible will most likely have 4-doors, something that hasn't been done since the 1967 Lincoln Continental. The idea of the convertible is based on the ASC Helios 300, shown at the Detroit Auto Show in early 2005. It is not known when the coupe and convertible 300 will be released, or if DaimlerChrysler will ever go through with the idea.

Origins
The 300 name made a brief reapparance in 1979, on a somewhat revised Chrysler Cordoba bodyshell. This "300" had non-functional fender vents, red, white, and blue pin stripes, and a 360 in³ V8. This engine produced just 195 hp (145 kW) and was mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission, resulting in meager performance. The model was gone after 1979.

Worldwide
The 300 is sold in many countries and as a 300 Touring which is a rebadged Dodge Magnum with the 300's front fascia. It is available with a diesel engine in Europe.

Design quirks and oddities
*Shrewd product placement in several hip-hop videos have helped establish the 300 as a cool and desirable vehicle. In fact, one account had rapper Snoop Dogg leaving a message for Chrysler chairman Dieter Zetsche saying, "What I gotta do to get that brand-new C outta you?"

Awards
The 300C was the 2005 Motor Trend Car of the Year and was on Car and Driver's Ten Best list for 2005. It also won the North American Car of the Year and Canadian Car of the Year Best New Luxury Car awards.

The Nissan Frontier is a model of pickup truck assembled by Nissan and sold under the Nissan brand name. Nissan was the pioneer of the compact pickup truck market in 1959, joined in the 1960s by Mazda and Toyota. Since 1959, Nissan is known for a number of notable firsts in the compact pickup truck market, including the first extended cab bodystyle (in the 1979 Nissan King Cab) and the first crew cab bodystyle, in the 2000 Frontier. Frontiers are currently built in Smyrna, Tennessee.

See Wikicars' comprehensive FULLPAGENAMEE Review.
Recent Changes
After having been redesigned for the 2005 model year, the 2006 Frontier remains largely untouched, save for a few new options.

Styles and Major Options
There are four major trims available for the Nissan Frontier: the XE King Cab, SE King Cab/Crew Cab, NISMO King Cab/Crew Cab, and LE King Cab/Crew Cab. With the exception of the XE, which is only available in a two-wheel drive King Cab, all of the trims are available in a varying combination of two- or four-wheel drive, manual or automatic transmission, and either King Cab or the larger Crew Cab. ==Hybrid Models==
There is no hybrid model of the Frontier.

Unique Attributes
Resale Values
According to Kelley Blue Book, the four-cylinder 2WD XE King Cab is projected to retain 58 percent of its value after a 2-year period, while the 4WD SE Crew Cab is expected to hold an impressive 67 percent.

Criticisms
*No V6 engine available until 1999
*No standard cab available
*Turning radius larger than preferred
*5-Speed automatic transmission shifts hard under heavy acceleration

Current Generation: (2004–present)
Initially, the Frontier was considered compact, but beginning with the totally-redesigned 2005 Frontier (introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show), it became more mid-sized. Built from the new Nissan F-Alpha platform, it now resembles the company's full-size Nissan Titan truck.

The new truck's wheelbase is 125.9 in (3.20 m) with a 205.5 in (5.22 m) overall length. Towing capacity is 6500 lb (2,950 kg). A 4.0 L VQ-family V6, the VQ40DE, is the standard engine, and it produces a respectable 265 hp (198 kW) with 284 ft·lbf (385 N·m) of torque. Also available is the QR25DE four-cylinder engine, which is also found in the Sentra SE-R Spec V sports sedan. A six-speed manual is standard with a five-speed automatic optional. Both rear and four-wheel drive are available. Traction control and hill-descent control are also available.

First Generation/Origins
The Frontier was introduced in 1997 for the 1998 model year as a replacement for the aging Nissan pickup. Nissan first offered the Frontier with a 4-cylinder engine, the KA24DE, but added the 6-cylinder engine, the VG33E in 1999.

That changed in 1999 with the 2000 Frontier Crew Cab. The Crew Cab was the first compact pickup to offer a 4-door bodystyle. Until that point, crew cabs were heavy duty versions of full-size trucks and were mainly used as commercial vehicles.

For 2001, Nissan facelifted the Frontier, introducing bolder styling in an effort to make it more appealing to younger buyers. The Frontier was completely redone after the 2004 model year.

Worldwide
The Frontier is also known as the Navara in some parts of the world.

The Honda Pilot is Honda's second SUV fully built and designed by Honda. The Honda Pilot is built in Alliston, Ontario, Canada and Lincoln, Alabama. Honda's initial SUV offering for many years was the Honda Passport, which was a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo. Where the Passport was truck-based, the Pilot shares underpinnings and the powertrain with the Acura MDX, which has a lineage which can be traced to the Honda Odyssey minivan (itself based on the global light truck chassis). The Pilot’s unibody construction, however, is fortified with integrated perimeter frame rails, which helps it withstand light off-road use.

The Pilot was designed to fill a large American demand for SUVs. Prior to the introduction of the Pilot, Honda only had the smaller CR-V based on the Civic platform, and the aforementioned Passport. However, the CR-V lacked in features many American consumers looked for in an SUV, which are overall size, passenger space, and towing capacity. The Pilot is at most designed to withstand light duty off roading. The Pilot has been a best-seller for Honda, with Honda selling over 100,000 Pilots in 2004, an increase of almost 20% over 2003. The Pilot is exclusively sold in North America, while Japan and Australia get its relative, the Honda MDX instead.

See Wikicars' comprehensive Honda Pilot Review.

Recent Changes
For 2006, the Honda Pilot got new front and rear fascias, an updated interior, and various standard safety features.

Like the MDX, the Pilot is propelled by an aluminum alloy 3.5 L SOHC, 24-valve VTEC V6 engine. The engine is rated at 240 hp and 242 ft·lbf of torque, and mated to a five-speed automatic, which, as tested by Sunny Kar, results in a 0-60 mph time of 7.2 seconds and 1/4 mile sprint of 14.6 seconds. For the 2005 model, the power was increased to 255 hp, 250 ft·lbf of torque and includes a Drive by Wire (DBW) Throttle System. The Pilot weighs in at a little over 4,400 lb. Also, like the MDX, the Pilot rides on struts up front with a coil-spring, multilink arrangement at the rear designed to allow a flat load floor. It also has the MDX’s wide track — 66.3 in at the front and 66.5 in at the rear. The Pilot has a 4,500 lb boat/3,500 lb trailer towing capability.

The Honda Pilot will undergo redesign for the 2008 model year, taking styling cues from the Acura MDX 2007 redesign.

Styles and Major Options
The Pilot is available in both two wheel drive and four wheel drive in the LX trim and the EX trim.
Gas Mileage
The new 2WD models are equipped with a standard Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system that combines Pilot muscle with added efficiency. VCM is designed to boost mileage and economy without sacrificing power when and where you need it. While under light engine load conditions, the VCM system deactivates the three rear cylinders. This pioneering technology lets you go longer between fill-ups and enables an EPA highway rating of 24 MPG. Happy trails.

The 2WD gats an EPA estimated 18/24 MPG and the 4WD gets an estimated 17/22 MPG.

Reliability
The Honda Pilot comes with a 3 year/36,000 miles Limited Warranty and a 5 year/60,000 miles Limited Powertrain Warranty. Ordinary maintainence or adjustments, parts subject to normal wear and replacement, and certain items are excluded.

The Pilot ranks first overall in reviews of popular mid-size SUVs on Autos.com.

Safety
As evidence of Honda's dedication to safety, the Pilot has received a 5-star rating in frontal- and side-impact testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Additional safety features have been added this year, including three-row side curtain airbags with rollover sensor and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) with traction control. Plus, Pilot models with the navigation system feature a standard rearview camera that helps you watch for obstacles when you select the reverse gear.
Criticisms
A few noteworthy critiques from Joe Wiesenfelder of cars.com of the Honda Pilot:
* Lack of low-range gearing
* Short seat bottoms
* Nonstandard radio controls
* Occasional uncertainty in turns

Generations
First Generation (2003- present)
The Honda Pilot was an all-new model for 2003. It came in two trims (LX and EX) and was initially only available as a 4WD model.

For 2004 the Pilot recieved added features including standard heated seats and heated side mirrors on EX-L models. Also the second row seats can now be adjusted fore and aft and third-row access has been improved.

For 2005 the Pilot recieved added features including a standard sunroof and six-disc CD changer for EX-L models. Also the Pilot recieved a new steering wheel design and added exterior colors. Engine power is alo increased to 255 horsepower, a tire pressure monitoring system and an all electronic Drive By Wire Throttle System are also newly added standard features.

For 2006, the exterior is slightly updated to incorporate design cues from the Ridgeline, while the interior gets a refreshening that includes new seat fabrics and a modified instrument panel design. Also, all trims of the Pilot include side curtain airbags as standard equipment. In addition, in the 2006 model year, a 2WD becomes available.

Worldwide
It is sold as the Honda MR-V in the Middle East exclusively.

Design quirks and oddities
Only for the 2005 model year, and only for the 2005 Pilot EX-L with rear seat DVD player, many Honda Pilot owners complained about the cluttered center dash due to the fact that it had 3 CD slots. One for the CD player, one for the CD changer and one for the DVD player. This minor design odditie was resolved for the 2006 model year, when the pilots CD changer was integrated into the main radio system, eliminating the three CD slots and uncluttering the dash by only having one Disc insert slot for the CD changer and one for the DVD player.

Awards
* The Honda Pilot wins the IntelliChoice "Best Overall Value of the Year" in the intermediate sport utility class

The Chevrolet TrailBlazer is a mid-size SUV from the Chevrolet division of General Motors. Introduced in 2002, the TrailBlazer won the North American Truck of the Year award. The TrailBlazer replaced the Blazer as the company's mid-size SUV, though production of the 2-door Blazer overlapped with the new 4-door TrailBlazer for some years (the 4-door Blazer was only produced for fleet orders).

See Wikicars' comprehensive Chevrolet TrailBlazer Review.

Recent Changes
*The 2007 TrailBlazer remains cosmetically unchanged from the previous year, with the exception of three new exterior color options. On the inside, some options have been made standard, including GM's OnStar system.

*GM has recently decided to extend the current Trailblazer until at least the '09MY. The next generation 361 platform has been officially cancelled. It is felt that the next mid-sized GM SUV will be based off of the new Lamda platform being build at the new GM Delta Township Assy plant.

Reliability
In terms of long-term reliability, the 2004 TrailBlazer, which shares the same platform as the current model, received an overall Green rating from Automotive Information Systems. This rating is somewhat marred, however, by the fact that the Engine category in particular for this vehicle received a Yellow rating, indicating moderate problems in that area. In addition, Consumer Reports states that "Reliability has improved to average" for the 2007 model.

Safety
The TrailBlazer did fairly well in safety assessments made by the NHTSA. For driver front-impact and 2WD rollover tests, it received 3-Star ratings, and for passenger front-impact and 4WD rollover, it received 4-Star ratings. It achieved the best results in side-impact safety, for which it received the highest 5-Star rating. Some of the standard equipment found on all models of the TrailBlazer include:
*ABS and driveline traction control
*StabiliTrak electronic stability control
*Front and rear anti-roll bars
*Four wheel anti-lock brakes
*Driver/passenger front-impact airbags
*Side impact bars
Hybrid Models
There are currently no hybrid models of the TrailBlazer in production.

Unique Attributes
Resale Values
According to Kelley Blue Book, "when it comes to resale, the TrailBlazer does not hold its value as well as rivals from Toyota and Nissan but holds up better in projected 24-, 36-, 48 and 60- month residual than the Ford Explorer."

Criticisms
*"The rear end of the TrailBlazer still skips around on choppy pavement, and brake dive is pronounced." - Car and Driver
*"You may not like the TrailBlazer if you're looking for advanced airbag protection for the third-row passengers or if you tow heavy boats or trailers." - Kelley Blue Book
*"...two rubber-tipped tailgate stops... stick several inches into the tailgate opening." - USA Today

Current Generation: (2002–Present)
This SUV is built on a truck platform, with all models having four-wheel drive as an option with both automatic engagement and the more traditional "4 High" and "4 Low" gearings. The vehicle has enough ground clearance to allow certain off-road usage. Its main disadvantage is its increased width (as compared to a Suzuki Samurai or a Jeep Wrangler) and lack of suspension travel, causing it to high side when it encounters high-camber-variance terrain or large rocks. Additionally, it lacks either locking hubs or a limited slip differential, though the latter is available as an option.

Engines
* 2002-present LL8 4.2 L (256 in³) I6
* 2003-present 5300 5.3 L (323 in³) V8
* 2006-present 6000 6.0 L (364 in³) V8

EXT
One unique element of the TrailBlazer line was the availability of a 3-row 7-passenger EXT version. This vehicle is 16 in (406 mm) longer and has a higher roofline to allow easier access to the third row of seats. This roof is disguised by standard roof racks.

Production of the EXT model was handled by the Oklahoma City Assembly plant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The last TrailBlazer EXT rolled off the assembly line on February 20, 2006, because GM had reportedly closed that plant, making 2006 the final year for the TrailBlazer EXT.

SS
An SS model was introduced for 2006 with the Chevrolet Corvette's LS2 V8. This new Trailblazer is equipped with a 6.0 L LS2 V8 with 395 hp and 400 ft·lb of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 sec (est), and can do the quarter mile in about 13.9 sec. at 100.0 mph (est).

Future
The next-generation TrailBlazer was to be built on an upgraded version of the current GMT360 platform called the GMT361. It was scheduled to be launched in Spring 2007, but in January 2006 GM decided to just refresh the current platform and call the vehicle a GMT360ng. In June 2006 GM announced that the GMT360ng program was also cancelled due to the large investment. The current Trailblazer/Envoy is slated to continue with only minor changes until at least the 2010MY.

Responding to criticism of rebadging, GM will only build the TrailBlazer and GMC Envoy SUVs off of this upgraded platform. Buick will instead get a GM Lambda platform-based crossover SUV, while Saab will replace the 9-7X with the Theta-based 9-4X.

Worldwide
The Trailblazer is available in Russia and The Middle East.

The Chevrolet Tahoe (and similar GMC Yukon) is a full-size SUV from General Motors. Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their Blazer and Jimmy model names through the early 1990s. This situation changed when GMC rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the Yukon in 1992. Chevrolet waited until 1995's introduction of a four-door version to rebadge the compact S-10 Blazer as the Blazer, renaming the full-size Blazer as the Tahoe.

The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon currently serve as General Motors' full-size SUVs. Lengthened wheelbase models are available for both as the Suburban for the Tahoe and Yukon XL for the Yukon. A luxury Denali model joined the Yukon lineup in 1998. As of 2002, a Denali version of the Yukon XL was also available as the Yukon Denali XL.

In the United States, the Tahoe is a popular alternative to the Ford Crown Victoria for police car use, especially in rural areas.

Recent Changes
The new redesigned 2007 Chevy Tahoe was launched in early January and features improved power, improved segment-leading fuel economy and increased interior refinement.
The biggest improvement for GM has been the Tahoe's fuel economy. With gas prices on the rise; this was much needed. Additional contributors to efficiency include a lower, wider front air dam, tighter tolerances and gaps between the fascias, lamps and grille openings, and improved front-end sealing that nearly eliminates air leak paths. These features all contribute to enhanced fuel economy and improved driving quietness, compared with previous models. The new 2007 Tahoe takes over at the top of the segment in sales, quality and comfort and has been the best-selling full-size SUV since 2001.

The 2007 Chevy Tahoe shares the new body design shared by the GM family of SUV’s. The 2007 Tahoe features a more angular design that supposedly gives the vehicle a more upscale appearance. The interior was significantly redesigned as well. It features a new wooded trim dashboard with new chrome accented instrument controls. New door panels as well as new seats were also added to the interterior.

* GMC Yukon
* Nissan Armada
* Toyota Sequoia

Hybrid Models
The Tahoe has a hybrid version, called the Tahoe Hybrid which uses a 6.0L V8 mated to the GM/DaimlerChrysler Advanced Hybrid System 2, producing 332 HP and 367 ft-lbs. of torque. With a 6,200 lbs. towing capacity, the SUV still manages to return a 21 mpg city/22 mpg highway Fuel Economy rating which is a marked improvement over the 5.3L V8's 14 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.

Unique Attributes
GM's Displacement on Demand Technology, in which half of the engine's cylinders are deactivated in low-demand driving situations. The power plant should get an estimated 20.5 miles per gallon on average in a combination of city and highway driving, which is on par with estimates for the Mid-Size Hummer H3, which gets roughly 16/19 MPG.

Resale Values
Criticisms
The 2007 Chevy Tahoe was featured on, and promoted through Donald Trump's The Apprentice, where the two teams put together a show for the top General Motors employees to learn about the new Tahoe. Also, The Apprentice sponsored an online contest where you can create your own commercial for the new Tahoe, and the winner's ad would air on national television. The online Chevy Apprentice make your own ad contest backfired causing many of the users to make fun of its fuel usage and its link to global warming. A few of the ads had coarse language and sexually explicit content. The website is still up causing critics to think Chevrolet is slow to act to the negative publicity.

Generations
Fourth Generation (2007 - present)
For 2007 the GMC Yukon and Chevrolet Tahoe received different front fascias and hood. The GMC Yukon features a monolithic grille and headlights, while the Chevrolet Tahoe's grille is divided by a body colored bar similar to the chrome bar found on most of today's Tahoes. While the Tahoe's hood now features a design attribute obtruding from its otherwise smooth contour, the Yukon features a smooth hood with two slight curves on both sides of the hood. Both the new Yukon and Tahoe feature a more angular design that supposedly gives the vehicles a more upscale appearance. The interior was significantly redesigned as well. It features a new wooded trim dashboard with new chrome accented instrument controls. New door panels as well as new seats were also added to the interior.

Third Generation (2000 - 2006)
The vehicles were redesigned for the 2000 model year on the new GMT800 platform, still shared with the full-sized pickups. Two new engines replaced the old 5.7 L small-block, and while both were smaller, both produced more power. The manual transmission was dropped. In Mexico, the GMT800 Chevy Tahoe is called a Chevrolet Sonora.

Both vehicles received significant updates with only the grille and headlights distinguishing one from the other. Both vehicles now featured softer lines as part of a more aerodynamic design. The interior was also updated with new seats, dashboard, and door panels.

"StabiliTrak" stability control was offered for the first time in 2003, as were XM Satellite Radio, Bose audio, and a DVD entertainment system as the models continued to climb upmarket. Both engines received 10 hp (7.5 kW) more for 2004.

Second Generation (1992 - 1999)
In 1992, a new body style was introduced across the model line. For the first time, the new full-size Blazer was no longer a convertible. It now has a fixed hard top making the Blazer essentially a short-wheelbase, two-door version of the Suburban.

In 1995, Chevy renamed the Blazer to "Tahoe" and moved the "Blazer" name to a smaller SUV. In 2000 the two-door full-size Tahoe body style was discarded by Chevy, leaving only the larger four-door style.

The new GMC Yukon was introduced for 1992, while Chevrolet continued calling their version the Blazer. All were 2-door models through 1994. The Tahoe/Yukon were shorter than the Suburban on which they were based, but shared that vehicle's GMT400 platform. This was a true truck chassis, and was based on that used in the Chevrolet Silverado full-size pickup truck. Both two-door and four-door models were produced, as well as rear- and four-wheel drive.

"AutoTrac" full-time all-wheel drive and OnStar were added for 1998. The upscale Denali trim line to the Yukon appeared around this time as the vehicles became popular with wealthy families.

In Mexico, the Tahoe 2 doors was released in 1995 called Chevrolet Silverado, and 1998 was released Silverado 4 door, is available in Base, LS and luxury LT.

When the GMT800-based SUVs were released in 2000, a Tahoe Limited was produced for demand

First Generation (1969-1991)
This first generation Blazer shared a lot of similarities of Chevy pickups and Suburban of these early generations. As with the Suburban, the interior was open from the cab area to the trunk and cargo space in the rear, but similar to the Pick up's, the cargo area was uncovered. Powertrain and suspension features were based on the half-ton level; to ensure a higher GVWR one would have to go to a Suburban (which was offered in 1/2 and 3/4 ton) or pickup (1/2, 3/4 and 1-ton.)

Early marketing represented the Blazer as a 4x4 utility vehicle designed, for hunting and camping, and as a 'Recreational' vehicle -- for camping trips. Most were sold with a hardtop and fully configured, interestingly the base model Blazer came only with a seat for the driver. Passenger seating including Rear Seating, the hardtop and softtop were all "optional". One of the most popular options was the 4x4, but a two-wheel drive model was available.

See the separate Chevrolet Blazer entry for more information about the 1969-1991 C/K5 Blazer.

Worldwide
The 1995 to 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe was exported to Germany and Russia.
