The '''[[Lotus]] Evora''' is a sports car to be produced in Britain from November 2008. It will be the world's only [[mid engined]] 2+2 on sale. Originally known as ''Project Eagle'', the Evora was officially launched on the 22nd July 2008 at the British International Motor Show, however images were released prior to this date.

Featuring a modified 3.5-litre V6 engine from [[Toyota]] capable of 276 bhp, the Evora is also the first all-new Lotus since the launch of the [[Lotus Elise|Elise]] in 1995. The car is aimed at attracting new customers to the marque, and as such the car is taller and has wider door apertures than the smaller [[Lotus Exige|Exige]] and Elise variants.

The Evora also utilises the VVA (Versatile Vehicle Architecture) chassis which can be used as a platform for any car up to 1900 kg. This system was first previewed on the [[Lotus APX Concept]].

The car will be hand built at the Hethel factory in England, capping production at approximately 2000 units a year, and will be sold throughout the world. Production starts in November 2008, and the first deliveries will occur in Spring 2009.

The engine itself is a 2GR-FE 3.5-litre V6 DOHC with intelligent variable valve timing. Maximum [[horsepower]] (276 bhp) is available at 6400 [[rpm]], and maximum [[torque]] (252 lb ft) is available at 4700 rpm respectively.

The Evora utilises a 6-speed manual gearbox which is also Toyota-sourced. Lotus will also offer a close-ratio version of this gearbox in the future.
