Hey Yankee, have you noticed how when you fill up infoboxes there seems to be a white border on the right hand side of the box that makes the infobox appear to be "breaking"? I've figured out what you were doing wrong. It's pretty simple really. Just refrain from putting this symbol, "|", below where you write down the vehicle's marque (between that and "aka"). Also, dont add the symbol in a category that already has one. Like for example, check out "designer" on the errant infobox ive put on display. ==Other Codes==
Also, to help you out a bit further with codes. when you dont want infoboxes to intrude on each other's space because the accompanying article is too short (like say in an article where there are several generations of one model) simply type this code down <nowiki>{{-}}</nowiki>. That will leave a the space needed so you wouldnt have to repeatedly press enter to create a wide enough gap in the article.

We'd also like it if you included a nav box underneath each article. a nav box is simply a box dedicated to specific marques and includes a listing of thier models. What that does is make it easier to find other cars made by the same marque w/o typing it in search. For example, to put up the nav box for vehicles made by Dodge simply type <nowiki>{{Dodge}}</nowiki>. This is what will show up:

Greetings all, I was going to put this in the Garage Talk section, but it looks like that's getting pretty full, hence inviting you all to my talk page.

OK...

I have a few questions and observations for you administrators and anyone else who wishes to chime in - please don't be shy.

In the infoboxes, in the "similar" box... I personally think that they should only consist of similar models within the same company. For example, a modern-day Chevy Impala is similar to a Buick LaCrosse, Pontiac Grand Prix - a Dodge Caravan is similar to the Chrysler Town & Country, etc. I've noticed some have put their competitors in the same box... which to me is redundant since most pages already have a "Main Competitors" section. I know all of us being individuals with different writing styles won't all do the same thing, which is understandable, but I think we should try to achieve at least ''some'' consistency and perhaps reach a general consensus. I of course have my personal opinions, but I will follow whatever general consensus ultimately dictates.

I have noticed some of you have added pictures to my pages. Whomever has done so, thank you, I hope that continues. I've looked at a few other sites for pictures, such as conceptcarz and such (that is one annoying site, popups galore...) but still haven't had much luck. I'd rather not lift them from Wikipedia if possible, I'd kinda like us to have our own pictures different from theirs, but I guess if you can't beat 'em...

I'd like permission to scrap the [[Chevrolet Camaro]] and [[Pontiac Firebird]] pages altogether and start from scratch. What's already there isn't sufficient, if no one has any heartburn with it I'd like to start them all over. If I do this, of course if anyone has anything to add, like all the rest of my pages I certainly welcome it. But I noticed another editor (can't remember who) had on his "list of things to do" was to clean up those pages. If you still plan to do so, by all means go ahead... but if you decide you'd rather delegate that detail to someone else, I'd be happy to make my contribution to both.

I think you're referring to a "Related" box and, go ahead, clean up those pages at will.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "scraping" the Camaro and Firebird pages. You can edit anything, so there's no need to delete the pages if that is what you are thinking. If you need the model template (which those pages don't have now) it's here [[Model_Template]]. I'm working on the Cougar page now, so I'd be glad to help with those after I'm done with it.
I also agree with you about lifting stuff from wikipedia. Unfortunately, for some vehicles (namely older ones) it is hard to come by info and even harder to come by good pics. [http://www.conceptcarz.com Conceptcarz] is a good site, but try oly to use the ones that don't have the watermark in the upper left corner. [http://www.seriouswheels.com Serious Wheels] is also good, but the sizes are a bit large.

Yes I know. "Similar" refers to competition while "Related" refers to relatives in the same family of cars. wikipedia has that kind of a system in their infoboxes. -Red_marquis

Hi Yankee! The Firebird pages look awesome! Thanks! I have a recommendation. I think we should create a top level Pontiac_Firebird page where you currently have the first 2 generations, then subordinate the current page and the 3-4 generations page; we could also create links from the top level page to the Camaro page(s). The reason I suggest this is that the search engines (like Google) are very likely to promote the simple Pontiac_Firebird page as our Firebird page and I think it would be awesome to have a Firebird portal type page as our entry point. This is entirely up to you, of course! What think? If you want help or ideas, just let me know. BTW, it seems that are very best pages are being viewed by thousands of people per month right now. Hello Michael,

Thank you for all you concerns with the Wikicars site. I appreciate your enthusiasm to jump in and fix things and your keen eye for detail, and those are the exact same qualities we look for in our administrators here. Since you are interested in an administrative role on the site, I'll pass your name on to the rest of the moderators.

Being a new wiki, we used some of the content from Wikipedia to get us started, but we'd rather not take all their content verbatim. Rather, we'd like to develop on it and delve three or four levels deeper. In doing so, we did not create info boxes at the time of launch, because it would have been a bit more involved to decide which models get info boxes and which don't. As you are well aware, the automotive industry is such a melting pot of brands and vehicles, that it would have been difficult to classify certain vehicles as just one category. Be that as it may, it is a wiki-based community site, and we are open to all kinds of suggestions and edits.

I, myself, am not all that familiar with the makes that you mentioned were missing form the site. We can build a portal for foreign makes and exotic cars, which I'm guessing a vast majority of these cars are. If you have any other concerns about the site, [[User talk:PNiddy|let me know]].

I know. =( This continues to be a growing concern on our end, too. We're in the process of implementing a automated wiki-filter that will revert those changes and ban the IP address or member for such offensive behavior.

As for the Talk:Main Page/, that is "creative spamming." Some dedicated spammer is going out of their way to implecate new spam on the site. Thanks for the heads up! =)

:Yes, seperating the coupe from the spider would clean things up, but one problem is that they are essentially the same car. You could possibly seperate the article into two sections. One section for the coupe, the other for the convertible. With two sections though, you would have to have an infobox for the coupe and one for the convertible. I'd like to know if there is a short way to be able to send out messages to every one without necessarily having to visit every contributors user page? I think it could help better organize wikicars. There is a specific topic i'd like to discuss with everyone. it might seem a trifle insignificant but i noticed that there are several forms of infobox automobiles on this site. i was thinking what if we standardized it to streamline the pages and add professionalism. This infobox is what i've seen used most commonly:

Unfortunately this infobox is chockful of errors like spelling mistakes (see "Length") and missing several parts (width, height, wheelbase, etc.)

I have since created and have been using a more expanded and IMO complete infobox. Check out my [[Maserati A6]] page to copy and paste. I have deliberately left it unfilled to act as a control. If anyone has any suggestions as to things they want to add or modify please notify me so we can maintain a uniform look to wikicars. Or if you don't feel like digging around here are the codes:

When we first began populating the pages in Wikicars, we were initially pulling straight from Wikipedia, which accounts for the inconsistency of the infoboxes we had before. But yes, it would be nice and more professional to make them more consistent across the board. The Middle East and eastern Europe will likely source its Galants from the United States from 2006.

In Australia, starting in the 2006 model year, Mitsubishi are selling a modified version of the North American Galant as the [[Mitsubishi 380|380]], denoting its 3.8 L engine. Due to excess capacity at the plant, Mitsubishi will export Galants in 2006 to markets in the Middle East and eastern Europe. There had been a layoff at the plant in late 2004, and Mitsubishi hopes to utilize its capacity and rehire its former employees as soon as possible.

The '''Fortwo''' is the original [[Smart]] model that was launched in 1998 throughout Europe as the City Coupe. The name Fortwo was introduced when Smart began to produce new models.

On June 28, 2006, [[DaimlerChrysler]] confirmed that retailer UnitedAuto Group "will be responsible for awarding potential dealerships and developing and maintaining a Smart vehicle dealership network throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico."

It will make its US debut in 2007 as a 2008 model.

===Recent Changes===
A major redesign is in the works for the 2007 model year. While not yet released publically, it is known that the car's length is being increased by some margin to meet US safety standards.

===Styles and Major Options===
Instead of trims or styles, fortwo has three 'design lines': Pure, Pulse, and Passion.

The Pure is the basic model, providing a basic configuration and minimal extras. It is the least expensive of the three.

The Pulse is a sportier model, including leather steering wheels, the unique 'alien eyes' tachometer and clock, alloy wheels, and sportier interior.

The Passion is considered the luxury line, with air conditioning, electric mirrors, and other speciality options.

A cabriolet verison is available.

Since the vehicle is not yet available for purchase from dealers in the United States, final pricing remains to be seen.

The fortwo's Mercedes Benz heritage comes through here, earning the car high marks for reliablility in Europe, Japan, and Canada.

===Safety===

In the US, 'bigger is better' is the normal rule-of-thumb when it comes to deciding which vehicle is safest. With the fortwo, that rule fast becomes becomes roadkill.

The secret to this vehicles safety rating comes from its 'Tridion Safety Cell.' This cell is designed to retain its shape in a collision, transfering much of the impact force back to the other vehicle. Also, given its size, the likelihood of striking one of the tires in a collision is high, which means the suspension helps absorb the force of the impact.

To help avoid the crash, the all fortwos come with [[Stability_control|Electronic Stability Control]] and [[Anti-Lock_Brakes_ABS|Anti-lock brakes]] as standard features. Dual [[airbag|airbags]], self-tensioning seatbelts, knee impact cushions and a collapsible steering column also come standard. Side-impact airbags are available as an option.

US Safety ratings have not yet been set, but in European ratings[http://www.euroncap.com/content/safety_ratings/ratings.php?id1=1], the fortwo gets a very respectible 3-stars.

===Colors===
Colors are one aspect of the Smart that is unique. While the vehicle has one primary color, the Tidion shell comes through at points, and has its own base color. In most instances, the shell is black, but in the Passion trim, the shell is also available in silver.

The rest of the vehicle is made up of interchangeable dent-resistant molded plastic panels. Much like the [[Saturn|Saturn]] lineup, these panels are solid colored, which means if they are scratched, the color remains unchanged. The best part is that you can purchase additional panels from the dealer, allowing you to change the color or your car at will.

In addition to the standard colors, smart is known for releasing limited edition colored vehicles, frequently themed to a partner. Some examples are Barbie Pink and iPod white. These limited edition vehicles often have a custom set of interior options, not available any other way.
