The Button Car Plan was an attempt to rationalize the Australian car industry during the 1980s. A major component of the plan, badge engineering, failed due to unforseen resistance from the buying public.
Unfortunately, its creator Senator John Button is most remembered for this dismal failure despite an esteemed political career.
